The late former Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha will be laid to rest on February 11, 2023.

This is according to former Defense CS Eugene Wamalwa, who says that as Prof. Magoha’s former Cabinet colleagues in the former President Uhuru Kenyatta administration, they shall stand with the family of the deceased.

Wamalwa revealed that the Cabinet of the fourth Kenyan president shall be at the late Prof. Magoha’s home in Gem, Yala, Siaya County, for the burial in accordance with the former Head of State’s instructions.

Wamalwa, who spoke at Yala Township Primary School grounds when he represented his Cabinet colleagues during the burial of Prof. Magoha’s brother, Prof. Richard Nyabera on Saturday, assured that they shall all be there to ensure they give their departed former colleague a decent send-off.

“Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his team will stand with you. After today we will come back because we know that on the 11th of February, you will be burying your brother Prof. George Magoha," Wamalwa said on Saturday.

“I was only sent here to represent them today but on the 11th of February we will all be here to ensure that we give our good professor a dignified send-off.”

The former CS went ahead to assure the family of their late colleague of financial support, as that of former President Kenyatta.

“The [former] president sent us to sit and support the family and personal donations of Ksh.2 million to help the family, and as Cabinet colleagues we raised Ksh.1 million,” he stated.

“We know that the family has been through a lot from America to here and it has been a long journey for them.”

The ex-president had earlier directed the former colleagues of Prof Magoha, led by former Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang’i and Raphael Tuju, to form a committee to aid in burial preparations.

This even as the government of the day has also appointed ICT CS Eliud Owalo, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Chief of Staff George McGoye to aid in the same.
