Gachagua jumps on ‘Niko Kadi’ bandwagon, says youth will decide Ruto’s fate in 2027

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has continued to rally Kenyan youth to register in their numbers as voters in the 2027 General Election if they are to change the way the country is being governed.

Speaking in Nyeri as he joined the launch of Mathira Constituency’s youth-led 'Niko Kadi' initiative, the former Deputy President told the youth that the opposition will be banking on the new voting bloc to ensure President William Ruto does not clinch a second term in office.

Gachagua told the country’s youth to sustain their push for good governance, which began in 2024, and channel it through the ballot.

“We need to register 6 million young people to join the rest of us so that next year on the 10th of August, we can wake up early and make good decisions for the benefit of this country,” he said.

The former DP, who led his family in verifying their voter registration status at Sagana Primary School in the constituency, also expressed confidence that the youthful constituency would rally behind the opposition in its quest to send President Ruto home.

“And I know they will not let this country down. I know the young people will do this country proud. It is they who have the power because they are incorruptible, they cannot be bribed with beans and rice, they cannot be bribed with handouts. They will make the right decisions,” he said.

Addressing traders at Karatina Market after the exercise, Gachagua maintained his onslaught on President Ruto’s allies in Central Kenya, insisting he remains resolute in ensuring they are voted out.

“Wasaliti wote, UDA, Wheelbarrow, Wamumbi, Wamatinga, Mukami… waende wasiendeee?” He posed as the crowd chanted ‘fagia’.
