If the August polls were shambolic, resign – Uhuru to NASA leaders

President Uhuru Kenyatta has challenged the Opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) members who were elected on August 8 elections to resign from their respective positions if the opposition outfit feels the election was not conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner and in accordance with the Constitution.

The President, while campaigning in Narok on Saturday, September 2 – just a day after the Supreme Court invalidated his last month’s election victory – accused the Opposition of double standards saying that its elected leaders should resign now that they feel the election was shambolic.

He specifically challenged the Siaya Senator, James Orengo, who was the lead counsel for the NASA team in the presidential petition, to abandon his elective post if he is to remain true on his argument that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) bugled the elections.

He assured that at no point would Jubilee share power with the opposition further vowing to uphold peace and cohesion during and after the electioneering period.

Deputy President William Ruto reiterated that Jubilee Party believed in the rule of law and was ready to maintain peace even as the Supreme Court had ordered for another election.

Ruto was optimistic that the tyranny of numbers with Jubilee representation was enough to send NASA home.
