Police in Teso South, Busia County, have launched investigations into the death of a 66-year-old man who was allegedly murdered by his brother's son over a land dispute at Aciit village in Teso South constituency on Saturday night.

The body of the man, who has since been identified as Abisancio Opili  was found along a pathway near his home after he was allegedly killed using a machete by his 22-year-old stepson, Kevin Omusolo.

According to Teso South sub-county Police Commander Stephen Kimunya, the matter was reported by the Chief of Apegei location Maurice Nyakol who called the police to the scene of the incident.

The police boss stated that the officers found visible injuries on Mr. Opili's body, and were able to establish that he had fought over the protracted land dispute with Omusolo.

Opili's body has been taken to Alupe sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem as investigations into the matter commence.

Meanwhile, area Member of Parliament Mary Emaase has cautioned members of the public against killing each other over land disputes, urging them to seek the intervention of the government administration to settle their squabbles.
