Man hacks wife, burns house before committing suicide in Makueni

Police are investigating a bizarre incident in which a middle-aged man allegedly committed suicide after hacking his wife on the head with a panga and setting ablaze their matrimonial home in West Ngosini area, Makueni County.

 The incident occurred in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

According to area chief Hollins Mutisya, the suspect allegedly attacked his wife, who reports say he married recently, before breaking her arm and torching their home following an argument between the pair.

The woman managed to escape from her attacker and seek refuge at a neighbour's house while the suspect proceeded to allegedly take his own life.

The woman has since been rushed to Makueni County Hospital where she is currently recuperating while the deceased's body has been moved to the hospital's morgue.
