The trial of Joseph Irungu alias Jowie and journalist
Jacque Maribe resumed on Tuesday with three prosecution witnesses taking the
stand.
A security guard whose identity card was
found at the Kilimani scene of crime, a caretaker at Langata's Royal Park
Estate and former Kilimani Deputy OCS appeared before Justice Grace Nzioka to
give details that the prosecution believes will firm up its case.
Seven more witnesses are set to give their
testimony before the case is handed over to the accused persons.
First on the dock was security guard Dominic
Bisera whose identity card was found at Lamuria Gardens where Monica lived
having been booked as her visitor.
Bisera told the court that he had lost his
identity card at Langata’s Royal Park Estate where he had gone to work as one
of the casuals at a construction site and left his ID at the gate only for him
never to see it again.
With the prosecution pointing to the possibility
of Jowie having picked the ID from Royal Park gate where he and Maribe lived, his
lawyer Prof. Hassan Nandwa maintained that the company where Bisera works is
the same that provided security at Lamuria Gardens where Monica was murdered in
her house.
On his part, Kennedy Araman, the then Kilimani
Deputy OCS, outlined how three witnesses separately identified Jowie positively
at an identification parade on September 25 2018; a statement that was interrogated
by defence counsel Katwa Kigen.
A caretaker at Royal Park Estate where the
two accused lived confirmed their residence to the court, adding that no
gunshot was heard within the estate as claimed.
Seven more witnesses are expected to take to
the stand before the case is handed to the defence to call its witnesses.
