Nzioka Waita to Kalonzo: You have no business in Machakos race

Machakos gubernatorial aspirant Nzioka Waita has dismissed proposals from Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to have him step down in favour of Wavinya Ndeti.

Speaking to Citizen digital, the former State House Chief of Staff asked Kalonzo Musyoka to keep of the Machakos gubernatorial race and let voters make their own decisions.

"Kalonzo is neither a voter or a candidate in Machakos County, he has no business telling the people of Machakos who should vote, who should stand and who should not," Nzioka said. 

On Monday, Nzioka termed Kalonzo’s proposal as an act of desperation from Wiper, saying that they once saw him as a weakling.

The former State House Chief of staff said that he is in the gubernatorial race to the end.

“The levels of desperation in WIPER are now embarrassing. I thought they said this ‘boy who speaks poor Kikamba is a nonstarter?’ A word of advice to the Mutharaka… don’t start what you can’t finish. #WaitaNaSuluhu marching onwards to the ballot,” Waita wrote in a tweet.

The Chama Cha Uzalendo flag bearer in the Machakos race further dismissed a viral letter that suggested he had withdrawn his candidature.

The purposed letter stated that Waita had reached a decision to postpone his bid after persuasion from Raila Odinga and the Azimio team.

While hosting Raila Odinga at Machakos on Sunday, Kalonzo had said he would apply his persuasion skills to have Nzioka Waita back Wiper’s Wavinya Ndeti in the August polls.

"Mimi nina furaha ya kuona team ya Wiper iko strong, muwaangalie vizuri. Hao wengi ni vijana wetu. Bwana Nzioka is my friend, I will talk with him. Kwa sasa mnaona Wavinya ako sawa sawa,” Kalonzo told Azimio supporters in Masinga.
