President Ruto allies accuse Uhuru of inciting youth to violence

Former President
Uhuru Kenyatta’s recent call for youth to rise up and challenge poor leadership
across Africa has sparked political heat in President William Ruto's fold.
Speaking at
Makerere University in Uganda recently, Uhuru urged young people to contest
modern leadership positions to save their nations. Ruto's allies have
interpreted this as political incitement
"Tunauliza
vijana kuchochea vijana piganeni," Kimani Ichung’wah, National Assembly Majority
Leader, opined.
The leaders
accused Uhuru of clinging to active politics and secretly backing emerging
opposition alliances, despite being officially retired.
The outrage comes
in the wake of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s announcement
of his 2027 presidential ambition during a homecoming rally in Kisii, a move
seen by Kenya Kwanza loyalists as part of a wider strategy that has Uhuru's
hand.
“Wewe mheshimiwa
Uhuru Kenyatta retire bwana, hii kiti haiko sio yako. Sahii hiyo kiti iko na
mtu mwengine, hauko, ata ufanye nini hauko," Sylvanus Osoro, National
Assembly Majority Whip, remarked.
The leaders
dismissed the regrouping of opposition figures, saying they pose no real threat
to President Ruto’s administration and have little to offer Kenyans.
"Niliona hao
viongozi wameungana pamoja na sasa nashangaa kwa sababu hao ndio chanzo cha
shida ambazo tuko nazo Kenya hii," Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi pointed out.
