The body of a prison warder, stationed at the Kitale GK Medium Prison, was on Tuesday night found dangling from a tree in a suspected case of suicide.
Corporal Wilfred Bera Kusinga was discovered by his colleagues inside
the compound of the Kitale GK Medium Prison Primary School, which is just
70 metres away from his state-issued home.
"Policemen who are neighbours confirm that they had seen the
officer at around 2000 hours but the actual time of suicide is not known,"
a police report on the incident seen by Citizen Digital reads in part.
When police arrived at Kusinga's home, they reportedly found a suicide
note.
"The note had some names with sums of money indicated against
them. The reason for committing the suicide could be associated with debts
owed," reads the police report.
Investigations into the officer's death have since been launched while
his body has been moved to Kitale Referral Hospital mortuary for storage
pending post-mortem.
