Interior Principal Secretary (PS) Raymond Omollo has warned non-profit organisations against diverting donor funding to support other illegal activities in the country including terrorism.

Speaking during the launch of terrorism financing risk assessment for the NPO sector in Kenya on Thursday, PS Omollo implored the non-state organisations to ensure that the finances received from donors should only serve their intended purposes.

Dr. Omollo said the government has enhanced financial monitoring of non-state organisations, however stating that some of them have denied disclosing their funding sources.

"Looking at the number of agencies that are involved in this assessment it goes to demonstrate that we are making the right steps along fostering the collaboration across various agencies," he said.

He added that the government is keen on the vulnerability posed by Faith Based Organisations, calling for the collaboration to tighten the gaps.

On his part, acting CEO of the Public Benefit Organisation Regulatory Authority Lindon Nicolas called for full compliance by all non-state organisations warning that they risk deregistration as part of efforts to clean up the sector in line with the set regulations.
