Reports and photos claiming that Kalonzo is outside the country not true

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka previously addressing an Azimio rally in Narok.

Photos that have been circulating on social media platforms, claiming that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is outside the country are false and misleading.

One of the photos used by persons claiming that Kalonzo is outside the country is one where the Wiper leader is pictured with Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo.

A spot check by Citizen Digital revealed that the said photo (attached below) was taken in 2017 when Kalonzo had visited Germany.

The Wiper leader himself shared the photos on his Facebook account on November 30, 2017, where he thanked Mutula for paying him a visit.

Another photo circulating online with claims that Kalonzo is outside the country is one pictured below, which was shared by the Wiper leader on May 10, 2022.

In the photo, South Sudan Minister of Foreign Affairs Deng Dau Melik & Kenyan Amb. Samuel Nandwa were receiving Kalonzo in Juba ahead of engagements in a peace process.

Other than the false pictures used, Citizen Digital can confirm that Kalonzo is in Kenya, and will be attending a church service at the Unshakeable Faith Church.

The reports had indicated that Kalonzo is outside the country, hence will not take part in the Monday protests organized by Azimio la Umoja coalition.

On Saturday, Paloma Gatabaki, the Communications lead of the Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka (SKM) command centre notified Kenyans of a fake poster claiming that Kalonzo has distanced himself from Monday protests.

“Our attention has been drawn to this image circulating in social media using @Kenyans frame. This is FAKE NEWS!  @skmusyoka stance is clear and unequivocal: Lower the cost of living and end electoral malpractice. No amount of intimidation will alter our stand. #HakikaTutaweza,” Gatabaki wrote in a tweet.
