Delivering his remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast 2025, Kindiki expressed gratitude to all the leaders who participated in organizing the event.
The Deputy President directed specific advice to Kenya's young people, emphasizing the importance of respecting authority and being open to guidance from their elders. He stressed that formal education, while valuable, cannot provide all of life's essential lessons.
"We respectfully request our children also to respect authority and also agree to be mentored and supported," Kindiki said.
He explained that while adults should treat children respectfully and acknowledge their own mistakes, young people should reciprocate this respect.
"They should equally respect older people, even if not for any other reason, simply because they are older and there are things you may not learn in any college but only in a school of life," the Deputy President emphasized.
DP Kindiki advocated for a balanced relationship between generations, acknowledging that adults have responsibilities toward young people while also expecting respect in return.
"We need to treat our children respectfully, and when we go wrong, it is not wrong to speak to it," he noted, adding that adults should be willing to apologize when they make mistakes.
Drawing from classical philosophy, Kindiki referenced Socrates' famous observation that "a life unexamined is not worth living," urging attendees to engage in self-reflection.
"We need to examine ourselves and see whether we're doing things right," he stated.
