Sierra Leonean woman arrested at JKIA with cocaine hidden in underwear

A woman of Sierra Leone descent was on Thursday arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) with drugs hidden in her inner garments and luggage.

Bioma Alice Gbassay was nabbed by detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit while attempting to traffick 1,080 grams of cocaine to Mumbai, India.

According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), a thorough search was conducted on the suspect’s body and luggage at the anti-narcotics office whereupon the drugs were discovered.

“From her inner garments, a whitish substance wrapped with clear tape was recovered,” read the DCI statement.

“Further, two slabs of dove soap concealing a suspicious powdery substance were also recovered in her luggage. After being subjected to laboratory tests, the recovered substances turned out to be cocaine.
