Sorrow in Vihiga as two families mourn seven kin killed in Kibra fire

Two neighbouring homes in Emuhaya, Vihiga County, are mourning
the loss of seven people in the Kibra fire tragedy.
Relatives and friends gathered at the two separate homes on
Tuesday, in an attempt to come to terms with the Saturday incident where
Emuhaya bore the brunt of losing seven people in the arson attack that killed
eight people.
At the home of Dina Omboko at Esirulo, Citizen TV caught up
with relatives who could not come to terms with the grim reality of losing five
family members, including a husband, wife, and their three children.
The five included Ernest Ombima, his wife Flora Ambani, and
their three children, namely Gertrude Amisi (9-years-old), Silas Omboko (3), Stephen
Ayimbo (1).
Four kilometres away, at the Emuhondo area, a cloud of sorrow
hung around the family of Moses Eboso after losing two of their children,
Harrison Eboso, 24, and 19-year-old Yvonne Anyonje, in the same inferno.
They now want police to probe the incident, claiming that
preliminary reports indicate that the houses were locked from outside,
suggesting it could have been an arson attack.
Area Member of Parliament Omboko Milemba condemned the
incident, asking police to investigate the matter thoroughly.
The Saturday morning blaze reportedly
started at around 5am, engulfing several homes in the densely populated
neighbourhood. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
Kibra Sub-County Police Commander Patricia Yegon confirmed the
incident, noting that the identities of the victims have yet to be established.
