Suspect arrested over murder of Karatina University student
A police station in Nandi County where the suspect in the killing of Karatina University student Phyllis Jepleting is being held.

Police officers in Nandi County have arrested a suspect believed to be behind the killing of
a Karatina University student.
The 29-year-old man identified as Ezra Kipkemei was arrested at
Kibwareng health centre where he had gone to seek medication days after allegedly
going into hiding.
Confirming the arrest, Nandi South OCPD John Owuoth said police
acted on a tip off from a member public who had spotted the suspect at the said
facility.
“We acted swiftly by sending our officers to the facility and managed to
apprehend him. He is currently being
processed to be transferred to Nakuru where he is alleged to have committed the
crime,” said the Mr. Owuoth.
Phyllis Jepleting, a Maths/Biology student at the Karatina University,
was found dead in Naka estate in a house said to belong to the suspect.
Autopsy conducted on the deceased’s body revealed that she died of
strangulation.
