Police officers in Nandi County have arrested a suspect believed to be behind the killing of a Karatina University student.

The 29-year-old man identified as Ezra Kipkemei was arrested at Kibwareng health centre where he had gone to seek medication days after allegedly going into hiding.

Confirming the arrest, Nandi South OCPD John Owuoth said police acted on a tip off from a member public who had spotted the suspect at the said facility.

“We acted swiftly by sending our officers to the facility and managed to apprehend him. He  is currently being processed to be transferred to Nakuru where he is alleged to have committed the crime,” said the Mr. Owuoth.

Phyllis Jepleting, a Maths/Biology student at the Karatina University, was found dead in Naka estate in a house said to belong to the suspect.

Autopsy conducted on the deceased’s body revealed that she died of strangulation.
