Ten people allegedly shot by police during anti-Gov't protests in Kisumu

One person died and nine others are admitted with police gunshot wounds at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) in Kisumu following day-long running battles with protestors.
The deceased was shot dead at Nyamasaria area before his body was taken to the JOOTRH morgue.
Two men, both aged 32 years old, were taken to JOOTRH after being shot in the abdomen and pelvic areas in Ahero and Nyando respectively.
The duo was transferred to the hospital in an ambulance driven by locals who stormed the Ahero sub-county hospital and commandeered the vehicle themselves.
Three other people aged 19, 26, and 27 were shot in the cheek, neck, and elbow respectively in Kachok and Nyamasaria areas that witnessed heavy confrontation between police and protestors.
A 19-year-old Raphael Onyango was shot in the right upper
thigh by police in the Kondele area and is awaiting a surgical operation.
At Kachok in Nyamasaria area, Brian Mbuya (20) was also shot
by police in the chest and right lower limb and is receiving care at the
facility.
According to records from JOOTRH, George Ooko, a 41-year-old
man, suffered a police bullet wound in his right thigh and is also expected to
undergo surgery.
Christopher Ototo, 27, was also shot by police in Nyalenda area
in his left upper limb and is receiving treatment.
