Uhuru, DP Ruto, Mwai Kibaki and Raila Odinga’s Christmas messages to Kenyans

President Uhuru Kenyatta, his predecessor Mwai Kibaki, Deputy President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga are among prominent politicians who have since sent Christmas messages to Kenyans urging them share with the less fortunate in society.

President Kenyatta and the First Family on Tuesday evening attended Christmas eve mass at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Nyali, Mombasa County where he wished Kenyans a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

DP Ruto, taking to Twitter, urged Kenyans to spend time with loved ones and reconnect with the beauty of our country as during their festive season travels.

He further urged them to “reflect on the year that was and plan for a bigger and better 2020” as well as to “remember those who do not have as much as we do” and to “drive safely.”

Former President Mwai Kibaki on his part, in a statement to newsrooms on Wednesday, said: “By God’s enduring grace and mercies we have, thankfully, witnessed yet another Christmas season. In the spirit of acknowledging and appreciating the wondrous things the Almighty has blessed us with as a people and nation, I wish all Kenyans a peaceful Christmas Day.”

“As we inch into the New Year, may we all take a moment and reflect upon what each of us should do to make ours the country we deserve and desire. Merry Christmas and a fulfilling 2020,” he added.

Orange Democratic Movement (party) chief Raila Odinga, also taking to Twitter, said: “May the spirit of hope, peace, joy and the idea of love rather than mistrust among people flourish in us fellow Kenyans as we celebrate this day. A Merry Christmas to everyone.”
