Agoro Sare High School edged Kisumu Day High School
to lift this year’s Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association soccer title for
Nyanza region.
Agoro Sare won 7-6 through post-match
penalties after a barren draw at fulltime in the final, played at Maranda High
School grounds.
The 2023 champions will however have to wait
before confirming their place in the nationals following an appeal filed by
Kisumu Day, claiming that Agoro Sare had fielded an ineligible player in the
final match.
The appeal will be reviewed by the Secondary
Schools Sports Association Nyanza branch through a committee set to be
established by the office of the Regional Director of education after which a
final decision shall be made, to either uphold or quash Agoro Sare's victory.
In the girls’ soccer, St. Mary’s Lwak Girls
School from Siaya County will represent Nyanza at National Secondary School
games in Kakamega after they edged out Nyakach Girls’ High School in post-match
penalties.
In other games, Siaya County’s St. Mary’s
School Yala will represent Nyanza in rugby after they edged out Maseno school,
Onjiko High School bagged the volleyball boys’ title while Oyugi Ogango Girls’
secondary lifted the Netball title.
Onjiko High School won the boys’ basketball title
after clobbering Agoro Sare High School as Ototo Secondary school carried the
basketball title after crashing Ng’iya Girls’ High School in the girls’
basketball finals.
The Kenya Secondary School Sports Association
National Term two games are slated for next month.
