The Kenya beach volleyball teams travelled in two batches yesterday for the Africa Beach Volleyball games cum Olympic qualifiers which serve off today in Tetouan, Morocco.

The first batch of Naomi Too and Brian Melly, together with head of delegation Neddy Kilimo, left in the morning, while the second batch of veterans Gaudencia Makokha and Edward Kibet along with the technical bench, left in the evening for the five-day continental showpiece.

For the women's team, Gaudencia Makokha will partner with Naomi Too in the quest for a second successive Olympic ticket after previously partnering Braxides Agala in bagging a silver medal in the 2019 African Games and also in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

The men's duo of Brian Melly and Edward Kibet will be eyeing their first Olympic Games ticket.

The winners of both genders will automatically qualify for the Paris Olympic Games, slated for next month.

Previously, four players were called into the camp, with Shirleen Maywa and Yvonne Wavinya being dropped from the women's side, while Kenya Prisons duo Jairus Kipkosgey and Elphas Makuto were dropped from the men's team.

The two teams have been going through intensive residential training at the Flamingo Beach Hotel in Mombasa.
