Eve Chemutai Selim is happy to have joined the Kenya Women National Super League side Bandari Queens, a move she says is a step forward in her career.

Chemutai is one of the six footballers released by the Bunyore Starlets ahead of next season, set to kick off in October.

Tacy Olembo (midfielder), Agnes Olesi (striker) and Cynthia Okwado (striker) have also joined Chemutai at Bandari, from Bunyore.

“It’s true that I have joined Bandari after signing a six-month deal with an extension option after review upon the end of the contract. It’s a great opportunity for me and the new challenge gives me the opportunity to showcase my talent and to help the team to earn promotion to the Premier League.

I’m an experienced player, having played in the CAF Women’s Champions League back in 2021 with Vihiga Queens and I believe I will have a very fruitful season with Bandari," Chemutai told Citizen Digital.

Selim, 24, started her football journey way back at Laliat Primary School in Ainamoi Kericho County before proceeding to St. Theresa Tar Tar Girls in West Pokot, where she continued her passion.

She later joined Nakuru City Queens where she made her Women Premier League debut.

She also had a stint with four-time KWPL champions Vihiga Queens where she was part of the squad which took part in the inaugural Caf Women's Champions League in 2021.

Alongside Olesi they were released by Vihiga Queens on September 2, 2022. They both joined FCK Queens after landing a full education sponsorship with the Kaimosi-based college in Vihiga County.

"I know many people may wonder why I dumped a Premier League club - Bunyore to join an NSL side - Bandari. I see it as a great opportunity to assist them get promoted. It's a win for me considering also the financial stability of Bandari," added Chemutai.

She now becomes ninth player to sign for Bandari Queens after the arrival of striker Happy Mutaa (Mombasa Olympics), defenders Idah Atieno and Firdhaus Abdallah both from Zetech Sparks, goalkeeper Belinda Ainyi (Police Bullets) and her four compatriots Bunyore.

She helped Bunyore finish eighth in the KWPL last season, with 17 points.
