Hand us CAF Confederation ticket: Bandari prayer to FKF

Bandari head coach Ken Odhiambo believes his charges have what it takes to represent Kenya in the 2020/2021 CAF Confederations Cup, appealing to Football Kenya Federation to present them with the ticket.

The domestic cup competition remains incomplete after Covid-19 led to a shutdown of sports and it remains unclear how FKF will conclude the competition after it cancelled the rest of the football leagues.

The fate of the tourney further hangs in the balance after the government extended the ban on movements in and out of Nairobi and Mombasa counties for a period of 30 days.

Odhiambo is however confident that the Dockers will not disappoint if presented with the chance.

“That’s a decision out of our hands right now but I have a good team ready to fight. We are always going to give our best as we’ve always done. We are going to grab any chance given to us to represent the Kenyan flag,” he told Citizen Digital.

Bandari represented Kenya in the competition early this year but failed to impress  bowing out in the hands of Horoya AC on a 5-2 aggregate score, at the preliminary.

The Guinean side won 4-2 in the first leg in Conakry before edging the Dockers 1-0 at Kasarani, in Nairobi.

By the time the virus led to the shutdown of sports the competition had reached the Round of 16 where the Ken Odhiambo coached side were primed to face off with Sofapaka at the Mbaraka Sports Club , but the clash did not materialize as they boycotted the fixture, citing government ban public gatherings.

Sofapaka who had travelled to the Coastal city to honour the tie thus returned to Nairobi without kicking a ball.

“Let the governing bodies make their decisions and if maybe we are given that chance, we’ll do the talking on the pitch, let people judge us on what we’ll deliver on the pitch,” added Odhiambo.
