I respect my contract, but pay our dues, Pollack tells Gor

Gor Mahia tactician Steven Pollack now wants the club to pay players and the technical bench their dues before the commencement of the new season. Pollack who will be going home to visit his family in the next week says he will, however not go home not until players and his coaching staff are paid their dues.

In an interview with Citizen Digital, Pollack says the basis of his request is to ensure that when he comes back from visiting his family, every player and staff will be well prepared for the pre-season.

‘’Yes, I have not spent time with my family for such a long time and I will possibly be travelling in the next seven days.  The basis of my request to the club to pay our dues is that when I come back, I don’t want an environment full of players guessing whether or not they will be paid their monies.’’

His predecessor Hassan Oktay left the country to visit his family in Turkey, never to return. But this, coach Pollack says is not in his agenda. The Finnish says he has a contract to respect and a promising coach will always be open to his employer.

‘’I have a contract with Gor and in case I want to leave; I will sit down with my employer and enter a mutual agreement. But as for now, I still have a contract to respect. It is very bad to disrespect your employer, not just resigning on phone or email,’’ said Pollack, adding that he will be back for pre-season.

Meanwhile Pollack has refuted a section of media reports that he will only be back at the club when things get better.

“I was misconstrued. This is common with African press. They never report what you say, but only try to make their reporting juicy in order to sell. That is very unfortunate. Putting words in my mouth is quite unfair. I am a coach who loves his job and in case of any problem, I will always face my employer.’’

Pollack has also rued losing the best talents within the team setup but says in the game of football, players come and go.

Defensive kingpin Joash Onyango is the latest to ditch the camp, joining Tanzanian giants Simba where he’ll link up with Rwandan Meddie Kagere and Kenyan international Francis Kahata, both of whom turned out for K’Ogalo before opting for pastures green in the Tanzanian capital.
