KCB RFC
continued their strong start to the Kenya Cup season with a 41-0 demolition of
Masinde Muliro University (MMUST) in Kakamega on Saturday.
The Bankers made
two changes for the match with Emmanuel Silungi and Martin Owila handed
starting roles by head coach Curtis Olago.
The visitors
needed 10 minutes to sink the opening try after a dominant start with Davis
Chenge breaking clear to score although Isaac Njoroge missed the conversion.
Elphas
Adunga sunk the second moments later but Njoroge again missed the conversion.
MMUST fell
17-0 by half time after Samuel Asati got on the score sheet and Darwin Mukidza
nailed the extras.
Former
champions KCB kept the boys from Lurambi at bay for the remainder of the game,
with Esau Otieno scoring his second try of the game between the posts after
being set up by Shaban.
Mukidza
added the extras to make the score 24-0, putting the bankers ahead just minutes
into the second half.
MMUST were
sloppy in the final third and eventually gave up a try. Owilah scores his
second try of the game after powering over the MMUST defence line. Mukidza's
conversion increased KCB's lead to 31-0.
The bankers
continued to put pressure on the students, and their chance to extend their
lead came in the form of a penalty, which Darwin Mukidza converted to make the
score 34-0.
Martin
Owilah grabbed his hatrick to score at the corner, giving KCB the final say in
the game. Darwin Mukidza converted to give the bankers maximum points, sealing
the game at 41-0.
The varsity boys have had an unprecedented run of defeats, including a 23-21 loss to Strathmore leos on Saturday in their first match of the season, while KCB destroyed Harlequins 38-0.
