Kenya Pipeline thump APR of Rwanda to book a final show piece with RRA in ongoing CAVB Zone V Volleyball competition in Kigali, Rwanda.
Kenya Pipeline have booked a date with Rwanda Revenue Authority in the final of the Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) Zone V Club Championship set for Sunday at BK Arena.
This is after the Oilers whitewashed Patriotic Army of Rwanda (APR) 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-15) in their last match of the group that was being played in the round-robin format on Saturday.
The Paul Gitau led charges finished on top of the standings having completed a remarkable four wins out of as many as the four matches they played and will be looking to complete a double against RRA who finished second on nine points.
The Oilers had earlier thumped RRA 3-0 (25-20, 25-23,25-15) on Thursday and the Rwandese side is unlikely to pose a real threat to them as they look to bag their maiden title in the competitions.
Pipeline were the better side today with the only real threat from their opponents coming from their incredible services but the Kenyan side tormented them with their powerful blocks and reception.
The 2023 Kenya Volleyball Federation women’s league runners up held on brilliantly to bag the first set 25-20 which proceeded easy wins in the subsequent sets 25-16, 25-15.
Head coach Paul Gitau has hailed his charges promising to bag the trophy: “We need to remain focused and not ride on the win we got against RRA. We are going to give it all and make sure we bring the trophy home,” noted Gitau.
Police Volleyball Club of Rwanda will play APR in the third place play-offs.
