Bunyore Starlets FC head coach Absalom Mariga has blamed fatigue
for their 3-1 loss to rivals Zetech Sparks on Sunday, at their Mumboha Grounds
backyard.
Bunyore, who are fighting to retain their Kenya Women Premier
League slot for next season, have played three matches within a space of one
week – including one away from home, in Nairobi.
After beating Kangemi Ladies FC 8-1 on Monday, they travelled to
Kayole Starlets securing a 2-1 before the Sunday encounter with Zetech.
"Zetech Sparks had the whole week to rest hence while we
were really tired. We were yet to recover from the Monday and Thursday league
matches. We have picked lessons on how we need to approach games under a tight
fixtures, but it is not easy at all," he added.
Mariga now says he is focusing on their away encounter against
Trans Nzoia Falcons on Sunday.
"I will rest the players before we resume training in
preparations for Trans Nzoia Falcons FC as our aim remains to secure our space
in the Kenya Women Premier League next season," he added.
Bunyore are currently eighth in the 12-team league, after
playing 20 matches to earn 25 points.
