Mathare Women
head coach Ann Aluoch has revealed plans to reinforce the squad of the National
Super League outfit ahead of the 2025/26 football season.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Aluoch noted that the Eastlands club is aiming at making
significant signings in bid to have squad depth, to help the team earn
promotion to the FKF Women's Premier League.
Part of her plan is to begin preparations
early for the upcoming season, including playing friendly matches, to help
sharpen her players in readiness for the task ahead. And if there’s interest
from other clubs in some of their current players, the club is open to doing
business, she says.
"We will make some signings in
anticipation of Premier League promotion, we need players, good enough in a
position to help us in the top tier. Other teams are also eyeing some of our
players and if need be, we will be forced to release some while finding their replacement,"
Aluoch explained.
Reflecting on the just concluded season,
Ann Aluoch admitted that it was not rosy for her side in the women's second
tier league as every team they met along the way in the concluded campaign was
a tough opponent, further stressing the competitive nature of the women's National
Super League in the country.
"Last season was a good one for me
as a coach and to my team because we picked vital lessons going forward, I can say it was a
really challenging campaign because everyone came prepared with a common goal
of earning promotion to the Premier League. The inclusion of Bandari, Uweza and
even Kayole made the league very difficult basing on the stiff competition that
we experienced," Aluoch reflected, in a conversation with Citizen Digital.
The Nairobi County based Queens, finished
third last season, behind Kayole and Bandari, who took first and second
positions respectively.
