Opener key in building winning mentality, says Mbungo

Bandari FC head coach Andre Casa Mbungo has vowed to collect maximum points in their league opening match on Saturday against Mathare United in Mombasa.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, the Rwandese tactician said that winning their first match will be a good motivation in their quest to clinch their maiden league title.

“Winning the opening game will give us the flow and the momentum in our set target that is winning the league,” said Casa Mbungo.

The former AFC Leopards coach is set to make some changes in his team’s leadership in the next few days but Bernard Odhiambo will still lead the boys in their opening fixture.

Former AFC Leopards and Wazito FC attacker Whyvonne Isuza, Rodgers Aloro and Faraj Ominde who played for Tusker FC last season and Boniface Mwangemi from Kariobangi Sharks.

Of the four newly unveiled new signings, Mbungo added that they are ready to play their debut match tomorrow against the Ezekiel Akwana’s coached side.

“The four new boys are ready to go and if all goes well some of them will feature tomorrow,” he said, revealing three more set to join the Dockers.

The Mombasa based side released eight players, three of them joining Sofapaka on loan ahead of the 2021-22 season.

Wilberforce Lugogo, Hamid Mohammed and George Osama moved to Sofapaka on loan,  with Dan Guya signing for the Ken Odhiambo coached side on a permeant deal.

Yema Mwana also left the club, and will now represent Kakamega Homeboyz under former coach Bernard Mwalala.

After the Mathare encounter and the international break, the Bandari will travel away to Thika against Bidco United before three consecutive home matches against Posta Rangers, AFC Leopards and newbies Talanta FC respectively.
