Over the weekend, the spirit of football and
community came alive at Bungoma High School as the Tujiamini 2025 Cheza Dimba
tournament brought together eight grassroots teams — six men and two women— in
an electrifying competition aimed at celebrating talent and empowering young
players.
In the ladies’ category, Kabrass Queens emerged
victorious after a tight 1-0 win against Kiman’get FC, walking away with a Ksh
50,000 one-off cash prize.
Meanwhile, Upendon FC claimed the title in the male
category after a hard-fought match against Nakarila FC claiming the 3-year
SportPesa sponsorship worth ksh 250,000 annually and a new set of home and away
kits.
In attendance were last year’s Western region
champions, Rockstar FC and Greenblades Spass,
who came to support and motivate the new teams.
“Tujiamini has not only supported football talent
for ladies but also boosted their confidence,” said Enos, team manager for
Greenblades Spass.
“I remember
my girls became emotional when they got to play on turf grass in Nairobi
earlier this year. It was something they had never imagined, but Tujiamini made
it possible.”
To sustain and grow this impact, Tujiamini has
committed Ksh 250,000 annually for the next three years to support Cheza Dimba
winning teams.
In addition, each winning team will receive a brand
new set of football kits every year, ensuring they’re equipped for success both
on and off the field.
“Tujiamini is not just about football — it’s about
belief, growth, and opportunity,” said Debrah Maina, Public Relations Executive
at SportPesa.
“With a budget of Ksh 30 million, this initiative
supports not only sports but also talent and community projects. From all the
region covered last year, we’ve seen teams rise into higher leagues proof that
grassroots talent deserves the spotlight.”
Tujiamini Cheza Dimba is a monthly rotating campaign
that moves from one region to another, offering equal chances to all. Following
the Western region tournament, the initiative now heads to the Eastern–North
Eastern region this June 2025.
“We encourage
all aspiring teams and talented individuals in both Sports and arts from that
region to take charge, believe in themselves, and register at
www.tujiamini.co.ke,” added Debrah.
