Motorists urged to exercise caution along Nairobi-Mombasa highway

Motorists plying the Nairobi-Mombasa route have been urged to exercise extra caution.

Kibwezi police boss George Kashmir said this follows an increase in cases of road accidents.

The latest incident saw a truck ferrying gas involved in an accident at Kanga area in Kibwezi, Makueni County.

"This area is notorious. We urge road users to be careful as they approach Kanga area," Kashmir said.

Police camped at the scene of the accident on Thursday night as the gas leaked.

The situation has been contained following by the officers and officials from the Makueni County fire department.
