Police arrest 9 in connection with Wote stadium theft

According to the police, the alleged theft happened on Wednesday night around 11pm.

The suspects are alleged to have locked up the stadium guard in one of the rooms before loading their loot onto a waiting lorry.

Police said that the suspects have since been arrested, and the lorry detained. 

“One of our officers was injured during the raid and is currently receiving treatment at the Makueni County Referral Hospital,” said the Winnie Siele, the Makueni police sub-county commissioner.

Police found the lorry loaded with the stolen construction materials.

A search is still on-going for other suspects believed to have escaped the police dragnet in a private car.

The suspects in police custody will be arraigned in court on Friday.
