Siaya: Man killed by electrocution during illegal connection attempt in Rarieda

A middle-aged man has died while attempting to make an illegal electricity connection in Kitambo village, Central Asembo in Rarieda, Siaya County.

The deceased, identified as George Omondi, was found hanging lifeless from an electricity pole following the incident.

Rarieda police commander Fredrick Alata said his officers, accompanied by Kenya Power officials, responded to the scene to assess the situation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the man was attempting an unauthorized electrical connection, although a comprehensive inquiry is ongoing.

The body was retrieved and transported to Bondo Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it will be preserved pending a postmortem examination.

Alata urged residents to seek services from qualified personnel for any electricity-related work, emphasizing that such incidents can be prevented through adherence to proper procedures and safety measures.
