Vihiga: Robbers break into home, slaughter chicken, eat it, then make away with 14 more

The robbers then made away with 14 chickens.

The robbery took place when the owner of the house, Jane Mudanya, had travelled to Kisumu.

"I was welcomed home to a rude shock after realizing 14 hens were missing. When I entered my kitchen there was an aroma of chicken stew," she said.

" I have struggled to raise the chicks from day one for seven months now expecting to sell at a profit so that I can pay school fees  for my children."

Mudanya called on the local security heads to beef up security in the area to bring to book the gangs that loot from residents.  

"Young men in this area are lazy.  They have refused to work expecting to reap from other people's sweat.  They should style up," Mudanya said.

She asked the county  government to create job opportunities for the youth to keep them engaged,  a move she believes would  bring down cases of theft and insecurity.
