This follows resignations from members who were serving in the aforesaid seats who were appointed to President William Ruto's cabinet.
Kandara's MP seat was held by Alice Wahome, now Cabinet Secretary for Water and Sanitation. Garissa Township MP Aden Duale was nominated to CS Defence and Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen was posted to the Ministry of Transport and Public Works.
IEBC has now announced that the by-lections for the areas, including the MCA seat for Shella Ward, Lamu County, will be held on January 5, 2023.
Political parties intending to participate in the by-elections have been advised to submit names of the persons contesting in party primaries before November 14, 2022.
In Elgeyo Marakwet, two prominent aspirants; Activist Jerotich Seii and Real Estate Developer Tim Kipchumba have already confirmed they will be in the race to succeed Murkomen.
Jerotich Seii is a vocal human rights defender and was part of the Linda Katiba movement which was a major of the controversial BBI process that was nullified by the court.
Kipchumba is a solar and real estate developer and has previously been listed in Business Daily's Top 40 Under 40 list of the most influential and progressive personalities.
Murkomen on his part has vowed to support anyone who would succeed him and will work with them.
"Whoever will be vying just ask for my vote and then I shall vet, but the ultimate decision on who will be your next senator is from the people. And I will support any Senator who will be elected a hundred percent," Murkomen said at a past event.
