Youths attack Chinese nationals demanding jobs on SGR

Fourteen Chinese nationals working on the Standard Gauge Railway in Narok at Duka Moja area along the Narok Mai-Mahiu road were injured after locals attacked them demanding share of jobs.

The Chinese workers were attacked Tuesday afternoon at a construction site by more than 200 youths who were carrying crude weapons.

They were taken to the Narok Referral Hospital where they are receiving treatment.

Locals have been demanding for jobs from the China Roads and Bridges Company contracted to construct a section of the Standard Gauge Railway in the area.
