There has long been widespread
notion that entertainers are not exactly the sharpest tools in the shed.
This, however, cannot
be further from the truth, as a section of Kenyan celebrities have proven that
they were just as good in the classroom as they are on the mic.
Below are a few of those we have managed to gather so far:
Legendary Kenyan musician Nameless, born as
David Mathenge, is an architect by profession.
The award-winning artist went to the
University of Nairobi and is one of the few artists who has maintained both his
profession and his musical career.
Nameless was also one of the architects who
worked on The Hub- Karen.
Rosemary Wahu Kagwi is a Kenyan singer and
songwriter who graduated from the University of Nairobi with a degree in Mathematics.
Wahu is one of the most celebrated female
singers in Kenya with hit songs such as 'Sitishiki' and 'Liar' to her name,
besides an MTV Africa Music Award.
Crème De La Crème, born George Njuguna, is
one of Kenya’s most celebrated deejays.
The seasoned DJ graduated with a Second Class
Upper Division in Computer Science from Kabarak University.
Singer and songwriter Nadia is currently one
of the best female artistes in Kenya, and her brilliance can also be credited
not only to her talent but also her background in education.
The ‘Radio love’ hitmaker holds a degree in
Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance option, from Maseno University.
Ndovu Kuu, real name Christopher Thande, is a
fast rising rapper who last year took the music industry by storm with his ‘Ndovu ni kuu’ hit; he was recently featured on the hugely popular
song ‘Kishash’ by Lil Maina.
The rapper has a degree in Aeronautical Engineering
from the East Africa School of Aviation.
Natalie Tewa is a YouTuber who majorly focuses
on lifestyle and travel content.
Tewa studied in the UK at the University of
Leeds where she pursued a degree in Architectural Engineering.
She previously worked as a project manager
for a construction company, but however quit in order to focus on content
creation.
Polycarp Otieno is a guitarist, producer, and
one of the members of Afro-pop band Sauti Sol.
The celebrity guitarist is an alumnus of the
Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) where he studied
Actuarial Science.
Award-winning Kenyan musician Frasha, born
Francis Amisi, is a trained physiotherapist and has previously worked in the
profession before quitting to pursue music full-time.
Frasha graduated from the Kenya Medical
Training College (KMTC).
Kamene is a radio personality who hosts the
morning show at Kiss FM alongside comedian Jalang'o.
The vibrant radio host went to
the University of Nairobi, where she studied law.
Kamene previously worked as
a paralegal before fully transitioning into the media industry.
