The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has urged motorists to validate their e-Citizen credentials; as it prepares to shut down the Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) portal from Friday, 29th December 2023 (midnight) to Monday, 1st January 2024 (midnight).

The Authority noted that it will limit transactions on all NTSA services during the period. All NTSA online service access will be integrated on the e-Citizen platform.

Following this, only e-Citizen login credentials, that is username and password, will be used to access NTSA services from Tuesday, 2nd January 2024.

"All clients with pending transactions on TIMS platform are therefore required to complete their applications by Friday 15th December, 2023 to avoid any inconveniences."

NTSA Director General George Njao noted that will see the Authority onboard all its services to the platform, centralizing access through a unified portal.

"To facilitate a smooth transition, the Authority requires all NTSA clients including motor vehicle owners, financial institutions, insurance companies, motor/motorcycle dealers, corporate/companies, Embassies, Missions, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), among other entities to validate their e-Citizen accounts," NTSA said.

On account validation, NTSA noted that those assigned to transact on behalf of organizations should  login to their e-Citizen accounts and add the specific organization using the KRA PIN Numbers.

"This is a critical exercise to ensure access to all NTSA services within the platform," the Authority added.

Meanwhile, NTSA will undertake  virtual trainings and demonstrations from 18th to 22nd December 2023 to help familiarize clients with the service flows. The registration process is not charged and will be available on the NTSA portal.

This comes as the government directed all ministries to comply and create awareness on the migration of all government services onto the e-Citizen platform by December 31, 2023.

Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau called upon all the Cabinet Secretaries to ensure the public is well informed on the 16,000 services expected to be onboarded on the e-Citizen online platform as they prioritise beating the deadline.

“We request your support in creating awareness within your portfolio about the e-Citizen platform, its benefits, and the importance of compliance with the directive. This includes informing stakeholders about the over 16,000 services currently available on the platform,” Wanjau stated.
