In a social media post, the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP wrote; “meet me in the streets.”
The EALA MP has been a vocal supporter of her father’s political ambitions and was an integral part in his 2022 election campaigns.
While castigating Raila for calling for demos, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua earlier dared him to allow Winnie Odinga to participate in the protests.
“Those who want our children to go to the streets have organized for their children to go to EALA in Arusha. If he wants street protests it is okay. But for them to take place, let your daughter, son come from Arusha and physically lead the demonstrations and the rest of the Kenyans can follow,” Gachagua told Raila.
On Sunday night, Raila rallied his supporters to turn out in large numbers saying; “This is the moment to take a stand for democracy and the future of our nation. Join us both online and on the ground for the Date with Destiny.”
Other principals from the Azimio la Umoja coalition have said they will be in the streets for the march to State House.
On Monday morning, Winnie also claimed that electronics had been hacked, and are completely unusable.
Heavy police presence has since been witnessed in the city, with all roads leading to State House barricaded.
